Chapter 1030:
Remembering his recent argument with Kellan, Brook let out a cold snort.
“I swear, Kellan’s completely under Allison's spell!” he muttered.
“Don’t worry,” Nova reassured him with a small smile. “Kellan will see your good intentions eventually. He won't
marry someone like that orphan.”
Her voice was gentle and soothing.
“Hoyt may not go on to do great things, but as long as he makes you happy, that’s enough. | won't ask for
more,” she added.
Her gaze shifted to the courtyard outside the house, where Hoyt was still kneeling, just as expected.

When Nova had gone upstairs earlier, the servants had already told her that Hoyt would be forced to kneel for
several hours.
Although she knew her son lacked ability, having him kneel outside the Lloyd house would be too humiliating for
her.
Nova smiled softly as she spoke. “I remember when Hoyt was little. He spent the whole night searching through
the fountain for my wedding ring. He said it was from you, so he had to find it, no matter how tired he was.”
She let out a sigh, her smile lingering.
“He was freezing cold, but in the end, he actually found it. That's when | thought, this child may not be the
sharpest, but at least he’s obedient and kind-hearted.”

She knew that Brook had a strong need to be in control.
Beyond talent, what mattered most to him was having control over his children.
Her words seemed to make Brook reflect on the past. He lowered his gaze, deep in thought.
“I remember when he ran to give it to you,” he said, “he slipped on the cobblestones in the garden.”
For the first time, Brook's resolve began to waver.
Brook looked out the window, his eyes resting on the cobblestones in the courtyard.
The evening was drawing in, and the cool night breeze blew gently. After a moment of thought, Brook finally
gave in. “Let him get up after half an hour. He needs to learn something from this.”
Nova, pleased with her success, pretended to disagree.

“Brook, you're always too soft on the children. Honestly, I think he should kneel all night. That way, he'll think
twice before making any mistakes again.”
Her comment made Brook chuckle.
“Boys need a bit of wildness in them,” he said.
He waved his hand dismissively. “Let him treat his wounds first.”
Nova let out a sigh of relief. “Alright, I'll let Jim know.”
