Chapter 282 Apology As expected, the moment I answered, Jack's furious voice exploded through the speaker. "Jane, what the hell are you doing? Why did you get Elsa arrested?" I blinked in confusion. "Are you sure that's something you should be asking me? Shouldn't you be asking Elsa instead? Why are you coming to me?" A thought flashed through my mind, and I decided to test it. "Don't tell me... She's been crying her eyes out ever since you picked her up from the station?" Jack sounded like I just asked the most obvious question. "Of course! If she's not crying, do you think I'd bother calling you? I already spoke to the police. You were the one who reported her. Get over here and apologize to her right now!" he demanded.
I rolled my eyes hard. "I think you need to get your head checked. I know a great neurologist overseas. Maybe he can finally diagnose whatever the hell is wrong with you," I retorted.

Do you have any idea how many crimes Elsa has committed in the past that warrant her arrest? I'm exhausted, Jack. Doa favor and stop bothering me." The second I finished my rant, I heard Jack start to say something else, but I didn't give him a chance. I hung up and immediately fell asleep.
By the tI woke up, it was already Sunday. I had forgotten to close my curtains last night, so sunlight streamed through the windows, hitting my face directly.
I stretched and rubbed my grumbling stomach before heading downstairs in search of food. Just as I reached the bottom of the stairs, the doorbell rang. I casually opened the door-only to find Elsa standing outside, looking her best.
The moment she saw me, she beamed sweetly and greeted me, "Good morning, Jane!" Before I could react, she invited herself in.
I glanced outside, expecting to see Jack or Jeremiah lurking nearby, but to my surprise, there was no one else.
Elsa seemed to know what I was thinking and smiled as she explained, "They're not here. I calone." Noticing the wary look in my eye, she made herself comfortable on my couch, acting like she owned the place. She flashedan innocent grin.

For a split second, Elsa's smile stiffened, but she quickly recovered. She continued innocently, "I cto apologize to you and Eric." Then, she casually glanced around, pretending to search for someone before asking, "Where is he, by the way?" I had already seen through her act, so I simply shrugged. "Unfortunately, he's not hright now. If you have something to say, just tell me. I'll pass the message along." Elsa pressed her lips together, stewing in silence. It was clear she cfor Eric- not me.
To be honest, because I got up late, I had no clue whether Eric was
actually hor not. But seeing Elsa's expectant face, I sure as hell wasn't about to let her get what she wanted. Sure enough, she looked disappointed upon learning of Eric's absence. But just as quickly, she looked up at me, her eyes filled with forced enthusiasm.
"That's okay. I'll just wait for him here. After all, a proper apology should be given in person."
I rolled my eyes at her. "You were never sincere to begin with Qui wasting my twith this fake act and get out."
But despite my clear dismissal, Elsa remained firmly seated, completely ΠΡ unbothered. I was one second away from calling security to throw her out when Eric's voice drifted down the stairs. "Is there a guest?"
