Chapter 279 The Scary Escape Room I followed Eric away, and by the tI snapped out of my daze, Jeremiah and Elsa were nowhere in sight.

"They didn't follow us?" I asked, surprised.

Normally, Jeremiah wouldn't be satisfied unless he cover to argue and get insulted in return, and Elsa would always chin with her passive-aggressive remarks.

Eric chuckled. "They know they're in the wrong, and withhere, they won't have the upper hand. Unless they've completely lost their minds, they wouldn't cover just to get humiliated." I nodded. That made perfect sense.

Zeke, however, wasn't about to be left out of the conversation. He stretched his neck up, trying to get a word in. "Who were those two just now? They didn't seem like nice people." Before I could answer, Eric squatted down and said with a serious face, "You're absolutely right. They aren't nice people. If you ever see them again, you should steer clear. Otherwise, they might try to snatch you away." Zeke pouted, clearly unconvinced by his words.

I squatted down and adjusted his shirt, which had gotten messy from the ice cream, and told him in a solemn tone. "Eric's right. If they take you away, you won't get to seeanymore." Hearing that, Zeke immediately straightened up and nodded earnestly. "Got it!" Then, with a serious look, he asked, "Can we go play in an escape room now? I heard it's really fun!" I fell silent for a moment. I hadn't really tried scary escape rooms before.

Seeing my reluctance, Zeke put on his best puppy eyes and clung to my arm. "Please, pretty please! I promise it'll be super fun!" I was weak to this kind of begging, so after a moment of struggle, I sighed in defeat and nodded. "Fine." Seeing this, Eric leaned in closer with a smile and whispered, "Don't worry, I'll protect you." Tickets in hand, the three of us put on blindfolds and were led into the escape room. Originally, I had secretly planned to pick an easier, less scary escape room since we had a kid with us.' But Zeke caughtin the act, and in the end, I had no choice but to go with the most terrifying one.

Zeke turned out to be completely fearless. I, on the other hand, was the weakest link. The pitch-black room, paired with eerie background music, sent chills down my spine. I instinctively clung to both Zeke's and Eric's hands, hoping to find ssense of security.

Zeke, however, couldn't be bothered to deal with me. He peeled my hand off him and handed it to Eric. Then, with a serious expression, he said, "Eric, I'm leaving Jane in your hands. You must protect her! I'll go ahead and scout the way." Eric gripped my hand firmly, and in the darkness, I could just barely make out the smirk tugging at his lips.

"Got it," he said in a deep, reassuring voice.

Satisfied with Eric's response, Zeke nodded satisfactorily before skipping ahead excitedly. Eric and I followed behind him in silence.

I sighed and lamented, "Good thing I asked the staff to remove the NRC actors. Otherwise, with how fearless he is, he might get kidnapped mid-game." Eric shota knowing glance and asked in an amused voice, "Are you sure it was Zeke who benefited from that decision?" né I had to admit that it was mostly my benefit. If there were actual actors giving us jump scares, I probably would've fainted right then and there.

At that moment, I started to regret my decision to bring Zeke to them Park. Luckily, Zeke was fearless and scouted the path ahead quickly. Very soon, we got out of the escape room under his leadership.

When we finally saw the light of day again, I almost felt like crying with relief.

Eric cleared his throat, snappingout of my daze. I looked up only to realize my face was dangerously close to his chin.
