Chapter 237 Quite the Storyteller Elsa let out a startled cry the moment the words left her mouth, her body tipping backward.

Behind her was the staircase. Was she willing to go this far just to frme? My pupils shrank. I reached out and grabbed her wrist without hesitation.

She hadn't expectedto react so quickly. A flicker of panic flashed across her face, and she instinctively tried to shakeoff. However, my grip was too firm for her to break free.

Before she could process what was happening, I shouted, "Someone, help! Hurry! Elsa lost her footing! Quick, help her!" Truthfully, I could have pulled her back with just a little effort, but where was the fun in that? Hearing my call, the people sitting on the couch immediately rushed over.

Elsa's expression tensed, and she was getting anxious. If she cout of this unscathed, all her efforts just now would have been for nothing.

She shot a quick glance at Jack, who was already on his way. She gritted her teeth and leaned back even harder, fully committing to the act. Upon seeing this, I curled my lips into a faint smirk for her to see. And then, just as she wished, I let go.

Elsa tumbled down the stairs like a ragdoll. Even though Jack moved fast, he wasn't quick enough to catch her. By the the reached her, she had already passed out.

She had thrown herself down with such force that if I hadn't subtly nudged her sideways at the last second, she probably would've cracked her head open.

A lesson was necessary, but an actual fatality wasn't my style.

Jack cradled her in his arms, his gaze burning with accusation. "Why didn't you hold on tighter? We were almost there! Why did you let go?" Eric stepped in front of me, his voice cold. "Couldn't you see that Jae was barely holding up too? How much longer did you expect her to endure?" I praised Eric in my heart before turning to Jack, unable to resist reminding him, "Shouldn't you be taking her to the hospital? If you wait any longer, she might just wake up." Jack shota glare and then hurriedly carried Elsa out the door. The rest of us followed behind, and we went to the hospital together.

After the examination, the doctor concluded that there was nothing seriously wrong. It was just a minor bump on the head. She didn't even get a mild concussion.

A couple of days of rest at hwould do the trick.

But Jack looked tense, insisting that she stay in the hospital no matter what.

Just as the hospitalization procedures were completed, Elsa slowly cto. The moment she saw me, her expression changed. Her eyes widened in terror as she pointed at me, and tears quickly welled up in her eyes.

"Jane... why did you pushdown the stairs?" Everyone exceptfroze at her words.

I knew it! Jack gulped, and when he spoke, his voice was careful. "Elsa, tell us. What exactly happened?"

Elsa looked utterly aggrieved, and her voice trembled with accusation. "I was apologizing to Jang, telling her I shouldn't have troubled her by coming over. But she just kept saying she wouldn't letoff. And when my back was to the stairs, she suddenly shoved me."

She started sobbing harder, looking as though she had suffered an m unbearable injustice. "If it weren't for fit Jack gettingto the hospital in time, I might not have survived..." She finished her tale, then cautiously lifted her gaze to look at Jack's complicated expression.

Even our usually doting parents remained silent.

I clapped my hands together, smiling the whole time. "Elsa, with storytelling skills like yours, you should consider hosting a children's program."

I paused, then chuckled. "Actually, scratch that. We wouldn't want you corrupting the minds of our nation's youth."
