Chapter 233 Speaking on His Behalf The moment I stepped into the meeting room, I was met with a wave of disapproving stares.
Only Jack sat silently on the other side with his head down, avoiding my gaze.

Mr. Ward was the first to break the silence. "Jae, we trusted you when we approved the launch of this production company. You even handpicked the entire team yourself. How could you let us down like this?" Mr. Linden chimed in, "That's right! I heard the films the production company invested in have made no progress for months. What exactly is going on? My assistant went to the production office this morning. The place was practically deserted! Is this how you repay our trust?" I remained silent, sitting there calmly as their complaints echoed around the room.
Mr. Plsighed heavily beside me, his tone carrying a hint of reproach. "Jae, you owe everyone here an explanation. This isn't ssmall project. The company has already poured 20 million dollars into it. If it collapses now, do you know how much of a loss that would be?" I met Mr. Plume's gaze with a calm expression, reassuring him without words. Then, Dad walked in.
He looked at me, his voice gentle yet tinged with disapproval. "Jae, what's going on? Everyone here supported this project because they believed in you. You need to give them an answer." I nodded and cleared my throat before shifting my gaze to Jack. "Jack, don't you think you should be the one explaining this?" As soon as I said his name, his entire body stiffened. The other board members exchanged confused glances. "What's this about? Is Jack behind this?" "This can't be right. Jack never even got involved with the production company. What does this have to do with him?" "Is she just trying to shift the blame?" As I listened to their hushed discussions, I slowly spoke up. "Everyone here knows Jack is the company's vice president. The vice president oversees multiple departments-including the finance department. If he doesn't approve the funds, how can the finance department process anything? "The reason the production company hasn't made progress is simple-there's no money for post-production. Since it's a new script without much industry backing, there are no sponsors. So, the only option was to put everything on hold." I looked directly at Jack. His expression had darkened with realization. He knew he had messed up.
I continued, "Without funding, the production company can't do anything. I might as well let my employees take a break." I swept my gaze around the room and said in a steady voice, "I think it's pretty obvious where the problem lies." Jack remained silent. I knew he had no idea what to say. Knowing his personality, he probably wished he could disappear into thin air.
However, the board members still tried to make excuses for him.

"Maybe Jack didn't realize this was part of the project, so he didn't m approve the funds?" "Could it be that one of his subordinates made a mistake?"
Jack slowly lifted his head, clearly struggling to find a way to explain himself. The moment he looked up, his eyes met mine, which were calm the moment and amused. His entire body froze. Even without words, we engaged in an intense silent battle.
After several rounds, Jack lost completely. He dropped his gazen clenched his jaw and bit his lip hard. Allong moment passed before he finally made up his mind. Just as he was about to speak, I cut him off with a smile.
I turned to the others, my tone light but firm. "I already had my assistant look into it. Jack didn't do it on purpose. He just made a mistake."
