Chapter 088 A Harmonious and Loving Father and Children Trio
Getting used to it?
He had been calling Alaric "Daddy" since he was a little kid; he had been adapting to it for years.
Though ironically, still pretending to be someone else's son in front of his real dad was rather comical.
"Daddy, can you take us to get something delicious?" Elisa asked, patting her belly.
Eat?
Alaric checked the tand noted, "But it's not quite lunchtyet."
"Then it's tfor afternoon tea," Elisa said somewhat coquettishly. "A sweet treat, maybe scoffee,
something like that, I'm craving it."
This little girl really was a foodie, wasn't she? She even knew about afternoon tea.
"Alright, kids, let's go grab sbrunch," Alaric said as he scooped up Elisa in one arm and took Caspian's hand
in the other, leading them to the car.
Caspian was trying his best to appear calm, but he felt guilty inside. After all, Alaric was his own father. He had
to bite the bullet and keep up the fagade.
Alaric took Caspian and Elisa to a classy American diner for brunch, where he ordered a bunch of sweets for
Elisa. She ate with great satisfaction, while Caspian just sat there politely, acutely aware of Alaric's watchful
gaze. Yes, Alaric hadn't quite recovered from the shock; looking at Caspian, he couldn't shake the feeling that he
was looking at his own son.
Feeling his father's eyes on him, Caspian beceven more anxious, and that's when he spotted an item on the
menu biscuits and gravy.
He despised gravy and couldn't stand the taste. But what if eating it in front of his dad would dispel any
suspicions?
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtDesperate times called for desperate measures.
"I'll have the durian cake!" Caspian blurted out.
"You like biscuits and gravy?" Alaric asked, surprised, knowing all too well that Caspian hated gravy.
"Yeah, | love gravy, its taste," Caspian lied.
"Harry, you like gravy?" Elisa asked in shock. "Since when? | had no idea!"
"It's because I've been considerate of you," Caspian explained, guessing she must also dislike it since she's
never had it. "Since you don't like the smell, I've refrained from eating it."
"So now you're not being considerate?" Elisa retorted. "If you eat it in front of me, I'll still think it stinks."
"Does that mean you disapprove?" Caspian silently prayed for her to stick to her guns.
"Umm... maybe | could just hold my nose while you eat it?"
"Never mind, | won't have it then," Caspian quietly rejoiced. Elisa had cthrough for him.
"It's okay, I'll take Harry out for sanother day," Alaric said nonchalantly.
Caspian felt a mixture of relief and frustration inside. That was definitely something his real dad would say.
"Sure, thanks... Dad," Caspian deliberately changed the way he addressed Alaric.
Alaric just watched Caspian and Elisa continue enjoying their brunch, feeling the contentment of an old father
watching his children's happiness.
"Hey, when are you finally going to marry my mom?" Elisa said, unable to hide her impatience. "Hurry up
already."
"Elisa, you're in a rush?" asked Alaric.
"Because | feel for my mom, you know? | don't want her to struggle on her own anymore, so | want to find her a
man who really loves and cherishes her. With you protecting her, she won't have to work so hard," Elisa
explained earnestly, her words tugging at Alaric's heartstrings.
Clearly, she was a thoughtful and caring child.
"I have to ask you," Elisa said suddenly, turning to look at Alaric with a serious expression. "Do you truly love my
mom?"
Caspian had also been pondering this question. He watched Alaric intently, awaiting his response.
"Yes," Alaric could only respond this way in the face of the children.
"And no matter what happens, you will protect her?" Elisa pressed on.
"Of course."
"Pinky promise? You have to keep your word," Elisa insisted, extending her little finger toward Alaric. He
extended his in turn and linked pinkies with her. "Alright, no backsies after a pinky promise," Elisa said with a
giggle.
"If you ever treat my mom poorly, | won't forgive you," Caspian added with a threatening tone.
"Understood."
Right after Alaric spoke, Harry's cell phone rang-it was a call from Galatea.
"Hello, Mommy," Harry answered.
"Harry, | just saw in the group chat that there's an event at school today and you can get out early. Do you need
Before Caspian could respond, Alaric grabbed the phone and said, "Harry, Elisa, and | are already together."
"Alaric?" Galatea was genuinely surprised. "H-How cyou're picking up my kids?"
"Elisa called me, and when | found out they could leave school early, | cstraight here," Alaric calculated his
move smoothly. "I will have my driver pick you up now. We'll wait for you here." Wait for her?
Before Galatea could react further, Alaric had already hung up.
Harry and Elisa were currently with Alaric? And were those two a little too thoughtless? Not a word to her did
they not care about their mom anymore?
"Why does Mommy have to ctoo?" Caspian asked.
"Because, Caspian, wouldn't it be nice for the four of us to have dinner together tonight?" Alaric suggested with
an inclusive smile.
"Wow, yes!" Elisa cheered before Caspian could say anything. "Having dinner with the family before you guys get

"No!" Caspian blurted out at the mention. Worried Alaric might grow suspicious, he quickly followed it up with a
forced laugh, adding, "I don't want to invite outsiders."
"But once Daddy and Mommy are married, his son will be our brother. That's not an outsider, we're family," Elisa
confidently explained to Alaric. "Don't worry, Daddy, | promise to treat your son like my real brother. I'll be a
good sister for sure." "Alright," Alaric replied, smiling affectionately.
Caspian was sweating bullets; now he had no choice but to struggle against the idea.
"That's a matter for later, | don't want to meet him right now," Caspian muttered to himself.
"If you don't want to meet, we'll talk about it later," Alaric said, seizing the moment. Harry had been begging him
not to reveal their secret to Galatea, so he suggested, "Tonight it'll just be the four of us for dinner."
"Okay, we'll be one family eventually, so there will be plenty of opportunities," Elisa said.
Hearing that Alaric wasn't calling Harry, Caspian finally felt a sense of relief.
Afterward, Caspian quietly sipped his juice and said nothing more until Galatea entered the room. "Mommy!"
Elisa greeted Galatea as soon as she walked in, and she walked over to them. Previously, Alaric had been eager
to meet Harry, and now his wish was finally fulfilled. "Elisa has been especially good, | really like her," Alaric said,
his eyes unable to hide his fondness.
