Chapter 403 Alaric, You Have Your Day

Stellan

thought, 'l am unreasonable?"

Alaric said, "Galatea, we've been going at it a lot lately. | don't wanna fight anymore. I'm just trying to talk this

out. It's not that | got a beef with him; his actions speak for themselves. Truston this."

Stellan sighed and said, "Alaric, | don't wanna fight either. | wanna believe you, but what you just said sounds

nuts. Josep's been good toand even saved your life. This time, Tommy took a hit for me, and his forehead's

still messed up." She went on. "It's really not cool to fire him now, especially with Ambrose trying to snatch him

up. Just trustthis once and let him cback to Nexus Innovations, okay? If he really does what you think,

then you can fire him." Alaric was firm. "I've already fired him. Right or wrong, that's the deal, and I'm not

changing it."

Stellan pleaded, "Can you do it as a favor for me?"

"Galatea, it doesn't work that way. Tommy can't stay. No matter what you or Josep say, I'm not letting Tommy

cback," Alaric said, standing his ground.

Seeing Alaric's stubbornness, Stellan felt a lump in her chest, super frustrated.

"If Josep hadn't told me, were you just not gonna tellat all?" Stellan asked.

Alaric shook his head. "Of course not. | was gonna explain it to Josep tomorrow. How could | hide it from you?"

"You always say | don't respect you, but have you ever respected me?" Stellan snapped, then stormed upstairs.

Alaric wanted to say something but bit his tongue. He really didn't wanna argue with Stellan anymore, but here

they were.

Neither of them touched dinner that night. When Alaric went upstairs to the bedroom, he found the door locked

from the inside.

Alaric knocked and called out, "Galatea?"

"I don't wanna talk to you right now. I'm going to sleep!" Stellan said, clearly upset.

What else could Alaric say?

"Alright, then. Get srest. Goodnight," Alaric said, then headed to the guest room. Neither of them could

sleep that night. Around midnight, the phone rang; it was Cormac. Rowena was already asleep, so Cormac called

Alaric, worried they might've had a fight. "How's it going?" Cormac asked.

Alaric replied, "Not great. She lockedout of the bedroom, so I'm in the guest room."

Hearing this, Cormac couldn't help but laugh and sarcastically said, "Didn't think this would happen to you."

Alaric shot back, "Isn't it normal for couples to fight? Stop gloating. Can you go your whole life without arguing

with Rowena?" Cormac replied in a teasing tone, "You're right."

"Don't callagain. | don't wanna talk to you," Alaric said, then hung up.

After hanging up, Cormac laughed again, then looked at Rowena, who was sleeping soundly in his arms.

Comparing himself to Alaric, Cormac suddenly felt really lucky. He kissed Rowena's forehead gently, then turned

off the light and closed his eyes.

That night, swere happy, and swere worried. The next morning, Alaric got up early, only to find that

Stellan was up just as early.

Alaric said softly, "Hey, babe, you're up early."

Stellan didn't even wanna look at him. Trying to smooth things over, Alaric asked, "What do you want for

breakfast? I'll whip it up."

"I've got plans with Rowena for breakfast. You eat alone. And after breakfast, make sure you go see Josep. |

might forgive you, but Josep's a different story," Stellan said. Alaric nodded, trying to be agreeable. "I know. I'll

definitely explain everything to Josep."

Explain everything to Josep? How was he supposed to do that? Should he say he thought Tommy had a thing for

Stellan? That'd just make Josep lose it.

"Good luck. I'm out," Stellan said, grabbing her bag and heading out.

Watching her leave, Alaric's face got serious. Explaining to Josep was gonna be a nightmare.

Alaric barely touched his breakfast, then grabbed sgifts and headed to see Josep. Since Josep was an early

riser, he called ahead.

"Morning, Josep," Alaric said respectfully, placing the gifts at the door.

"Morning," Josep replied, "Have a seat."

"Thanks," Alaric said, sitting on the couch. "I'm here to explain about Tommy. I'm really sorry for firing him."

"I'm surprised too. | asked him why, but he didn't say. | asked Galatea yesterday, and she didn't know either. Now

that you're here, spill it. Was it poor work performance or a mistake?" Josep asked. Alaric shook his head.

"Neither. He was actually really diligent and meticulous."

Josep looked puzzled. "Then why fire him if he was doing so well?"

Alaric could explain to Stellan, but how to explain to Josep? Wouldn't he think Alaric was nuts?

Alaric said, "The reason might sound crazy to you, and | have no proof, but..."

Josep said, "No one's here but us. Just say it. I'm curious."

Alaric had no other choice but to tell the truth. After hearing it, Josep's reaction was way stronger than Stellan's.

"You think Tommy has feelings for Galatea? That he might even be dangerous?" Josep found it ridiculous.

"Absolutely absurd!"

Alaric said, "Josep, | know it sounds nuts. Even though he's your nephew, you haven't been in touch for years.

You don't know his character. To you, he's a stranger."

"Isn't it a bit late to say that? | told you from the start | hadn't been in touch for a long time. If you thought he

was a stranger, you could've said no when | mentioned him. You agreed back then, and now you fire him and tell

Alaric explained, "Josep, please don't be mad. You're my lifesaver. | couldn't refuse such a small favor. But

Tommy's suspicious behavior at the company made me..."

"What's suspicious?" Josep interrupted, demanding, "What exactly is suspicious? From what | see, your claims

are baseless and nitpicky. Alaric, if his work attitude or ability was bad, I'd fully support you firing him. But your

reason is an insult to his character."

"Even if | haven't been in touch with him for years, he's still my nephew. Yeah, I'm angry. But the company is

yours. | was grateful when you agreed to let him work there. Let's just drop this matter."
