First Love 63
When Angela entered the CEO's office, Dexter was still tied up with work. He seemed to be in a meeting in the
small conference room next door, and the atmosphere was so tense that she could feel it even through the door.
Just as she was about to open the lunchbox she'd brought, she suddenly noticed a familiar figure-Elena.
“Hi, Ms. Graham, what a coincidence," Elena greeted with a bright smile.
“Are you here to deliver lunch too?” Angela asked.
The large bags Elena was carrying seemed to hold a feast.
Elena nodded. “I'm concerned about Dexter's health. If it weren't for him that day, | might
have-
"You can wait for him here. I'll leave,” Angela said firmly, grabbing her bag to leave.
After all, Dexter would still have his meal even without her.
Just as she reached the underground parking garage, Dexter called her. His voice cthrough with irritation, as
if he were angry. "What are you doing? Where's my food?"
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtAngela sighed, took a moment to calm herself, and then pressed down her frustration." Since you have someone
bringing you food, why did you waste my time?"
Dexter snapped, "Stop talking and bringmy food!"
Angela was so angry that she slammed the car door. However, she decided to compromise for the sake of the 20
thousand dollars and to avoid hearing Fiona's complaints.
She put on a smile and went back.
To her surprise, Dexter had moved the meeting to his office.
Eight executives sat on the black leather couch. They were quietly watching Dexter, waiting for him to give
orders.
Elena stood by the door, with eight meticulously prepared dishes laid out in front of her. Each one looked
exquisite, making Angela's simple three-dish meal suddenly seem unappetizing.
What should she do? She found herself wishing she could have Elena's meal instead.
"Sorry to interrupt,” Elena said as she stood up "Dexter, the doctor said you need to eat on time, and you still
need to take your medicine afterward."
At her words, the other executives began to speak up, urging Dexter to eat. After all, Dexter was the backbone of
the company; they couldn't let their leader go hungry.

However, Dexter waved them off dismissively and ignored Elena. His gaze swept across the room and landed on
Angela standing at the back. He raised an eyebrow when he noticed the small lunchbox she was holding.
He didn't acknowledge her either.
Angela glanced at her watch. It was already 12:40 pm, and she had to be back at work by 2:
00 pm.
"Mr. Bamford, you should eat before it gets cold," she said, but then suddenly remembered her lunch still hadn't
been reheated.
Just then, Dexter stood up and walked toward her.
"You all go ahead and eat. We'll continue at 2:00 pm," he ordered.
The executives politely filed out, leaving only the three of them in the large office.
A tense atmosphere settled among the three. Angela couldn't help but eye Elena's perfectly prepared dishes,

"Bring it out,” Dexter said as he sat down on the couch. He rolled up his sleeves, ready to dig in.
Elena's expression darkened. "Dexter, | specially made this for you this morning-"
“No need,” Dexter interrupted her bluntly. "The doctor said | can't eat anything spicy."
Elena's face stiffened. She had only prepared two spicy dishes. The rest of the dishes were perfectly fine.
