First Love 55
Chapter 55
The pressure on Angela's shoulder vanished instantly. Dexter's face turned as dark as a storm cloud. After a long
pause, he turned and walked out of the room. Only then did Angela breathe a sigh of relief.
As soon as Dexter left the house, Erica got out of the car and respectfully handed him the phone.
"Mr. Bamford, Callum's calling."
Dexter's face grew even darker at that. He took the phone without saying a word.
Neither of them spoke, and the atmosphere grew increasingly tense.
Finally, Callum broke the silence. “Mr. Bamford, our past issues don't need to involve an innocent woman."
His voice wasn't loud but carried an inexplicable lazy tone that was somehow infuriating.
Dexter let out a cold laugh. Angela was anything but innocent. "She's my wife."
"I know,” Callum replied calmly. "I'm not interested in her. | admire her talent. | can't stand to see it go to waste.

Callum was known for his mild temperament in the business world. He was famous for helping others, even
when it meant exposing himself to betrayal.
On the other hand, Dexter had a reputation for his strength and influence. Just the mention of his nwas
enough to deter troublemakers.
Despite their contrasting personalities and approaches, they had managed to reach the sheights in their
careers.
“You have no right to interfere," Dexter growled through clenched teeth.
Anyone else could say those words to him, but hearing them from Callum was unbearable.
"On the contrary, | do," Callum said with a smile. “Ms. Graham is the kind of talent DawnStar values deeply. Even
if you can't see that, we certainly can. As long as I'm here, she'll always have a place at DawnStar." The next
morning, Angela woke up early and headed to the office before the HR department even opened. After a short
wall, Wayne Chaffin, the head of the HR department, stepped out of the elevator

Angela hurried to him, eager to withdraw her resignation request.
Wayne set down his soy milk and pastries, turned on his computer, and logged into the internal network. He
searched for a while but couldn't find Angela's resignation request. There were no documents on his desk either.
"Are you sure you didn't dream it?" Wayne teased.
Just then, Clara rushed in from outside. "Angela, cwith me. There's trouble.”
The HR and design departments were four floors apart. With the morning rush, the
up the elevators were impossible to use. Thus, Clara grabbed Angela's hand and rushed her stairs at full speed.
Angela's heart pounded as she climbed, but she couldn't stop worrying about her resignation. She decided she
would go straight to Callum's office to ask him about it later. “What's going on?" Angela gasped, pulling Clara to
a stop to catch her breath.
“Nora's been transferred to division two under Stephen Turner,” Clara explained. “Not only that, she's rallying a
group of people to go with her. At least a dozen are already packing up their things to leave!"

Noticing Clara's flushed face, she couldn't resist teasing her. “If everyone else is leaving, why aren't you?”
Clara had always been ambitious. In less than a year, she had risen from a junior employee to project manager.
She was now fully capable of handling partnerships on her own.
She had even been a strong advocate of Nora's management style.
