Chapter 344 Dominic didn't argue with Fawn any further.
"I cto hear your thoughts and understand your position. Now that I do, I'll be leaving." He turned and walked toward the door.
As he moved away, his expression darkened.
This was more complicated than he had anticipated.
On his way downstairs, he ran into Samuel, who had just exited the study.
"Dominic! You're here. Come, let's play a round of chess," Samuel said with a chuckle, reaching out to place a hand on his son's shoulder.
Dominic let out a cold laugh. He brushed Samuel's hand aside and walked past him without a word.
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtA sense of unease crept over Samuel.
Dominic had never been this openly cold before-it had to be because of Vespera.
Samuel glanced downstairs before turning and heading back upstairs.
Fawn sat there, her face marked with worry and unease.
As soon as she saw Samuel, she hurried over to him and wrapped her arms around him, her expression filled with frustration.
"Dominic yelled at me. He even threatened me," she said.
Samuel wrapped his arms around her. "Dominic is sharp. If you bring Nancy back now to stir up trouble, he'll figure out it's our plan.
"You should be upfront with him and tell him we don't approve. Let's apply spressure together and see how he reacts." "We can't do that. You know Dominic's temper," Fawn said, lifting her head from his chest. "If we confront him head-on, he'll shut us down with one sentence and close the door on us for good.
"I've thought it through. We can't force him. Honestly, Ms. Gildon seems more level-headed than Dominic right now. We should step back and let her figure things out on her own. Let her realize the situation and walk away from him herself.
"With Dominic as he is, trying to get him to break up will only backfire. The only way this ends is if Ms. Gildon chooses to leave on her own." Samuel listened in silence, offering no response.
If it were up to him, he'd let Dominic figure things out on his own. If Dominie truly cared for Vespera, maybe they should just allow him to pursue his own happiness.
In the end his family had no intention of sacrificing their children's happiness-Samuel never been overly concerned about marriage alliances anyway.
But he didn't dare speak his mind. If he did, he'd likely be locked out of the bedroom for sure. For now, he would just go along with Fawn's wishes.
"Alright, I'll go along with what you want. But... don't go too far. If you can break them up, fine, but don't leave him crushed. It's the first tDominic's ever felt this way about someone-we don't want him wallowing in heartache." "It's not as serious as you think," Fawn replied. "He used to like Nancy, didn't he? Eventually, he just stopped caring about her." Samuel sighed at the mention of Nancy's name.
She had been just as obsessed with Dominic, but now he had fallen for Vespera.
No matter what, this situation was bound to turn into a mess.
