Chapter 1298 Chapter 1298: "Okay." After a leisurely lunch at Denby's house, he excused himself to tend to other matters for the afternoon. With no reason to linger, Madisyn and Andrew set off for home.

The car cruised smoothly down the road, gliding over the viaduct. Madisyn gazed at the city sprawled in the distance, but her thoughts were miles away.

During her conversation with Denby in the study, she had observed something that gnawed at her. Though Denby outwardly appeared strong, beneath the surface lurked the marks of old wounds.

When she checked his pulse, her suspicions were confirmed-these injuries had been sustained long ago, left untreated at the time, and now settled deep within his body.

At best, she could prescribe herbal remedies to maintain his health, but that was merely a temporary measure. If those latent injuries were ever aggravated, no medicine in the world would be able to help him. Andrew and Denby were men of few words when it cto emotions. On an ordinary day, one might not notice the bond between them. But if something truly happened to Denby, Andrew would be devastated.

Madisyn's grip tightened on her thoughts. She would research the treatments for injuries like Denby's, no matter how old they were.

Whether she could help or not, she had to try.

"Honey?" The car slowed to a halt at the side of the road. Andrew leaned closer, his brows furrowing as he studied Madisyn.

Madisyn blinked and snapped out of her thoughts, realizing the car had stopped.

"Darling, what's wrong?" Andrew's sharp gaze settled on her, unreadable for a moment, before he reached out and pinched her cheek. Find great reads at g al no v☐☐s"You tell me. I called you several times, but you just sat there frowning at the window. I thought you weren't feeling well. Are you carsick?" He had been driving a little fast earlier and worried that Madisyn might be feeling unwell.

Madisyn, amused, could only shake her head. Andrew, upon recalling just how skilled Madisyn was behind the wheel, immediately realized how ridiculous his assumption was. He was simply worried.

Reassured that she was fine, Andrew shifted his attention back to their surroundings. His gaze swept the area outside the car before locking onto something in the distance.

"Honey, wait fora second." Andrew spoke as he pushed open the car door and stepped out.

Madisyn watched him go, her brows knitting slightly in curiosity. Her gaze followed him as he walked straight toward a small dessert shop. The shop was charming-quaint andm whimsical almost like a little mushroom nestled in the street. A handful of children lined up outside. At the very end of the line stood Andrew, his tall, commanding frlooming over the group of eager kids. His expression was calm and serious, a stark contrast to the playful atmosphere around him. It took Madisyn a moment to realize what he was doing. He was buying her dessert.

The sight of this cool, impossibly handsman standing patiently in a line full of children was unexpectedly heartwarming.

A soft smile curled at the corners of her lips. Unable to resist capturing the moment, she rolled down the car window and discreetly snapped a photo with her phone.
