Her gaze locked onto Valerian, and her lips curved into a cold smile. "Isn't that right, Valerian?"
His jaw tightened at the accusation. He knew exactly what she meant.

Calliope glanced at them indifferently. "Even if he would tell me, why would | bother asking? If you want answers,
go ask him yourself."
"You think we'd be talking with you if we could just ask him directly?" Ulysses snapped. "God, Calliope, when did
you turn into such a pain? You weren't like this when we were kids!"
"And do you remember how you weren't like this either?" She looked at him with amusement. If they hadn't once
treated her well when they were younger, maybe she wouldn't have spent years foolishly believing they might
return to the way they used to be.
She had wanted their love so badly. And in the end, it had cost her everything. Not this time.
She swore to distance herself from them. Since they treated Lisette as their own sister and dismissed her, then
